News mailing list for HAP
30 Apr 1999
From May 11-15, 1999 a historic gathering on peace and international justice will take place in the city of The Hague, The Netherlands -- bringing together world leaders, civil society organizations, and thousands of concerned citizens from around the world. Called the Hague Appeal for Peace civil society conference, this will be one of the last major world conferences held in this century, and perhaps one of the most important. Over the week there will be literally hundreds of exciting programs held around the four conference strands of: (1) strengthening international law, (2) preventing and transforming violent conflict, (3) disarmament, and (4) the root causes of war / building a culture of peace.
The impact of the campaigns and initiatives that will come out of the Hague Appeal conference will reach far beyond the Netherlands Conference Centre in the Hague to wartorn villages in Africa, crime-ridden neighborhoods in urban America, and the capitals of the most powerful countries in the world. To communicate the activities, news, and proposals coming out of the Hague Appeal for Peace, we have created an email listserv that will broadcast up-to-the-minute updates from the conference.
To subscribe to this listserv, send an email message to majordomo@igc.org with the message "subscribe hapnews-list" in the body of the email. The email broadcasts will only last from May 11-15. Those subscribed to the regular "hap99-list" will NOT be automatically subscribed to "hapnews"; you must subscribe yourself seperately.
Please pass along this message to any of your colleagues who may be interested. For more information, contact hap99@igc.org.
